Stuck in a cork, the Indonesian president is 2 km walk

No one escapes the notorious jams of Jakarta and the island of Java, not even the Indonesian president. Stuck Thursday in a monster cork, he got out of his car and walked two kilometers to attend a military parade.

On the way to this ceremony marking the 72nd anniversary of the establishment of the Southeast Asian archipelago army in Cilegon, a port city in West Java, Joko Widodo and state officials suddenly found stranded in traffic, said the presidential palace in a statement.
After waiting half an hour in his vehicle, "the president decided that he would walk" to the place of the ceremony, said a bodyguard of the head of state, Ili Dasili.
National police chief Tito Karnavian, also blocked in the same traffic jam, also abandoned his car and joined the president on foot

Images broadcast on social networks show the president traveling surrounded by a squad of security agents, while passers-by on the road call him and chant his name.
"How is it that the president has had to walk two kilometers to reach the place where the military anniversary parade took place? Why was it not granted to him the privilege of leaving the road or transporting it by helicopter? "wrote Pujithegooners on his Twitter account.
